According to the Met Life Market Survey on Nursing Homes and Home Care Costs:

	The national average daily cost for a year in a nursing home is $56,880.  This breaks down to $158 per day.
	Daily cost for a semi-private room in a nursing home in New York State is $259, in Florida, $166.  Costs in metropolitan areas are significantly higher.
	At-home costs:  The fee for a private-pay, licensed home health aide runs about $18/hr, $144/day or $4,320/month.  A licensed practical nurse costs about double, or $37/hour.

In 20 years, the average nursing home stay will cost over $350,000. ⁵
